  • “From Core to Production” workshop – October 4, 2006

 

The meeting was held at the NPD since we now have a new representative from the NPD in the committee. Cecilie Laugen was welcomed as a new member in the Structural Geology committee of FORCE and she will also be a member of the organizing committee to the workshop in October.

 

 

The main purpose of the meeting was to firm up the program for the planned workshop on structural core logging on October 4. There is no longer a conflict with the dates for the planned ResChar seminar which has been postponed to October 16 and 17. We have a booking for the core viewing rooms and Valhall.

 

 

          “From core to production” workshop

 

The core presentations will be divided between the fault dominated and the fracture dominated systems because of the different controlling factors and impact on production. A short introduction to each of the two systems will focus on the principles of structural logging of cores and recognizing structural features like faults and fractures.

 

Action points:

  • Get additional graphic material for the flier – Erling (PLT) and Alastair (core photo of fractured reservoir)
  • Complete the flier this week – Cecilie
  • Special invitation to students at Universities in Stavanger, Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Tromsø – Erling
  • Clarify with Shell if they have a core to display – Erling
  • Clarify with BP if they have a core to display – Erling
  • Check potential sponsorship for a social event – Alastair (Statoil), Erling contacts the other committee members.
