1&2 Introduction and  status
The meeting started with a brief repetition of the minutes from last meeting (beginning of August 2002). Thereafter Haugen gave a short information update about FORCE

It has been difficult to get enough participants to our meetings. Our main message to the Force board meeting was that we wanted to increase the number of participants to be able to continue planning and arranging new seminars. We therefore propose to increase the number of members to two from each company. We should also take steps to also get the other FORCE members to have representatives in this group. It is particular important that we have a complete group when we start planning the seminars next year.

ACTION: Each present member should get appointed at least one more participant!

ACTION: Some companies are missing in our Company-member list, Agip, Gas de France, Esso, Talisman etc. We should send out an invitation to include these in our group.

3. Project proposals: How do we handle them?
We have received two proposals to our group. We went through the proposals and discussed possible actions to take. According to A. Haugen one way of handling this would be to check out the position of the different companies then put out on the Force WEB page and ask for the different companies to state their interest within a certain period.

ACTION: After some discussion we decided that we should send the proposals out in the respective companies with a short action time. Then put it out on the Force -WEB at the end of this week, with appropriate comments!

Two specific projects were discussed, and one of these will be sent on to the seismic group for their evaluation, while the image log database project received some positive comments and was agreed to be taken further with company internal discussions.

4. Further plans and responsibilities for the Upscaling Meeting
Time is running. We need to se some action to be able to arrange the planned UPSCALING seminar. Therefore we have set a data: 30-31 March – 2004.

However to make the seminar happen we need to identify and focus the seminar on specific topics.

ACTION: There will be a meeting at January 8, 9-12 at NPD where we will discuss the focus, pick out key sessions and potential speakers.

5. Presentation by Tore Løseth (Using analogues, building 3D models)
It was an excellent presentation from AINSA. How to use the field data from this location to build a complete 3D model. By using scanners and photographs it is possible to make very realistic representations of rock exposures and localities. Combination of detailed data collection and modeling techniques makes a convincing case of using field analogues for illustrating relationships between facies, reservoir zones and depositional environments.

6. The next meeting will be the planning meeting for the UPSCALING seminar 8’Th January, 9-12 at NPD.
