1.Upcoming workshop on SBED
Title: SBED – Uses & Abuses
Organizing committee:
Chris Townsend, Mike Young (Hydro) and Carsten Elfenbein (Statoil). They will
be supported by the rest of the Reservoir Characterizing Group.
Date: The
workshop will be held at NPD 3rd ( and 4th) October 2006. Janka Rom informed
that Valhall (auditorium) at NPD has been booked for 3-4 October 2006. It was
decided to also reserve one of the core viewing rooms at NPD.
Lectures: We
have for the time being 6 speakers who have said yes to hold lectures at the
workshop, and 1 optional speaker. We must have at least 10 lectures to fill one
day including core viewing. An option is to have a software demo if we can not
fill the program with enough lectures. We will ask for abstracts to be put on
the FORCE Web-site in front of the workshop.
Preliminary
information will be put on the FORCE Web-site as soon as possible.
Suggestions
to additional content:
- We will add a
subtitle to ”SBED – Uses & Abuses”
to embrace those who don’t use SBED, but could have interest in the
topics presented at the workshop.
- Can
Geomodelling, the company who develops SBED, give a presentation of
the present status on SBED software development and the philosophy
behind it?
- Can Statoil show
that SBED leads to more efficiency and better results?
- Should we try to
spread the lectures on several different depositional environments?
- Have one lecture
on what SBED can do that is not covered by other software?
- What can SBED be
used to other than facies modelling?
Further
work:
ACTION: The members of the Reservoir Characterization committee
are urged to go to their companies and look for persons who can give lectures
at the workshop. Not all the companies use SBED, but maybe someone is doing
similar work on other software that they can present.
The organizing committee will continue
their work on putting the workshop program together.
The next meeting
will be 23rd May, 9-12 at NPD. Then we will finalize the planning and program
for the SBED workshop.
2. AOB
The FORCE seminars and workshops are open
for everyone, unless the committees are looking into something internal/secret.
