FORCE workshop and field trip “Beach barrier systems” August 31st - September 3rd

FORCE (Forum for Reservoir Characterisation, Reservoir Engineering and Exploration Technology Co-operation) invites you to participate in a combined workshop and field trip “Beach barrier systems”. 

The FORCE Special Interest Network Group in Sedimentology & Stratigraphy will organise a workshop on this topic at the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate's offices in Stavanger (Prof. Olav Hanssensvei 10, Ullandhaug). The workshop consists of 1 day lecture, 1 day core view session (August 31^st and September 1^st) and a field trip to Wadden Zee and Texel Island, September 2^nd – 3^rd.  It is possible to only attend the workshop. The seminar participants are invited to a seminare dinner at “The Red Seahouse” on the evening of  31. August. Please tick of at the registration form if you wish to attend this dinner. 

The aim of the seminar is to focus on linear coastlines with emphasize on beach barrier and associated deposits (see attached flyer and agenda for more details).

The FORCE program committee for this seminar is Rodmar Ravnås (Shell), John Gjelberg (Norsk Hydro) and Atle Folkestad (Statoil),  

Attendance and cost: :
Attendance will be limited to 25 persons on the field trip, and to 50 persons on the seminar, core session. Cost estimate approximates NOK 3.000,- (workshop only) and NOK 11.000,- (workshop and fieldtrip) respectively. Cost covers lectures, flight tickets, hotels in Netherland, rental cars and field guiding. Booking is done by the FORCE Secretariat. The participants will be billed by NPD. Hotel in Stavanger have to be ordered separately.  

The account for the workshop will be settled after all the expenses for the workshop have been brought to the table, and a final invoice will then be sent from the FORCE Secretariat.  

The deadline for registration is August 2^nd. A cancellation fee (tickets, hotels) may apply after that date

Departure from Stavanger 1^st September at 1625. Arrival in Amsterdam 1940. Airline: SAS

Return from Amsterdam to Oslo 3^rd September at 1835 with arrival in Oslo at 2015
Return from Amsterdam to Stavanger 3^rd September at 1825 with arrival in Stavanger at 2155. Airline: SAS

Each participant is responsible to follow the HSE instructions for field trips prevailing in his/her company. However, all general safety precautions will be made for the field trip.

Sun hat / cap
Sun glasses
Sun-block lotion
Water-bottle
Mountain boots or Wellingtons (if you do not have, you may try with good track-shoes)
Warm clothes
Rain-coat
Binocular
Camera (film)
Private medicine

Travel insurance
